PE keeps acquired HVAC companies under original local names

Hoover notes PE firms often continue running acquired companies under the same names, such that a consumer could get three quotes from what is actually the same corporately-owned company, though he expects eventual consolidation under one corporate brand.

““Another interesting aspect is that as PEs buy up more locally-owned companies, they continue to run those companies under the same name in many cases,” Hoover said. “In some markets, it's actually possible for a consumer to get three quotes and actually be getting three quotes from the same corporately-owned company.”
