Roto-Rooter parent acquires VITAS Healthcare for ~$410 million

Roto-Rooter Inc. (formerly Chemed Corp.), parent of Roto-Rooter, agreed to acquire the portion of Miami-based VITAS Healthcare Corp. it did not already own for nearly $410 million in cash, at $30 per share. This is a corporate acquisition outside the trades (hospice care), by a plumbing-services parent.

“It will acquire the portion of VITAS not already owned by its Comfort Care Holdings subsidiary for nearly $410 million in cash. Under the merger agreement, VITAS shareholders will receive cash of $30 per share. The merger is expected to close mid-March.”
