"Performance Mechanical" reached out out to me to offer me services under their new ownership (JR Putman). They sold me on a "maintenance membership" for $179 and I would get two maintenance services per year for my unit. I have a Daikin mini split unit with three heads. The technician came out today to service my units. He wiped down the exterior of two heads and rinsed the filters from one head and put them back in my unit WET. He did not clean the third head at all. He said it already looked pretty clean. I don't like confrontation so I just said ok, that's my fault. He did go outside and wipe down the condenser and somewhat clean the coils. After work I decided to get on the ladder to get a better look at what he actually did. All of my heads are still filthy on the inside, they are still covered with dust and dirt inside the vents and coils. I thought ok I'll cut my loss and cancel my membership. I called the office and told them my concerns, that I would just like to make sure I was paid up for today's visit but would no longer be using their services. The lady told me I would have to pay $120 for the maintenance of the main head, plus $40 for each additional bringing my total to $200. Since I didnt want their membership anymore, I dont get the discounted rate. Fine but youre not going to charge me for part of a service I did not receive. I explained that the technician did not touch the third head, he did not perform any maintenance on it. She said she would still have to charge me for it. We argued about it for a few minutes and she said she would talk to her manager about it and call me back tomorrow. I told her I just want to pay my bill and be done with them. I told her to charge my card, cancel my membership and I'll just leave a review... so here it is. I would have cut my losses and let this go but they insist on charging me $40 for a unit the technician didn't touch. Not only do I have to clean my own units that I paid to have done, I'm being overcharged and wasting my time writing this to warn future potential clients to hopefully save someone this headache. I wouldn't recommend this company's services to my worst enemy. All pictures attached are after services were performed. Please zoom in.

BUYER BEWARE. New Ownership vs. Old 5 star reviews. They won't honor the warranty or work from before. I had a Daikin HVAC system installed in 2020 by Performance Mechanical, which was later acquired by JR Putman. In 2025, my outdoor condenser unit failed—during peak summer in Clearlake, CA—and despite being fully covered under both the 12-year Daikin manufacturer warranty and a paid extended warranty through JR Putman, I was left without air conditioning from May through September. Over several months, I was met with constant delays, ignored messages, and vague excuses about unavailable parts. Eventually, JR Putman refused to honor the warranty outright. To make matters worse, instead of diagnosing or honoring the system that I had already invested $14,000 into, the salesperson tried to upsell me on a brand-new $18,000 system that they claimed could be installed “the next day.” This was not just tone-deaf—it was dishonest. My original system was still under full warranty. I had to buy portable AC units just to survive the summer heat. I’ve filed formal complaints with the BBB, Contractors State License Board, and California Attorney General. This company is operating under a trusted brand name but has abandoned previous customers and their legal obligations. If you are considering doing business with JR Putman (or Performance Mechanical), ask yourself what happens when your system breaks—because they will likely leave you to sweat it out.

Beware this is no longer Performance Mechanical. This is now owned by JR Puttman and still operate and service clearlake inter the name JR Puttman. Do not expect the same friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable service you likely had from Performance. I had 5 mini splits installed in my home 4 years ago and had performance mechanical come out and maintain them each year. When I called earlier this year they had me wait on hold for nearly an hour before telling me it would be $800. When I called today to ask if I could have a tech come out they put me on hold before telling me they no longer service mini splits installed by performance mechanical and suggested I get a new system because it’s almost more expensive to replace than get a new one. Such a shame the guys at performance are no longer there either. Find somewhere else to take your business. I would NOT recommend anyone work with JR Puttman.
